About this event
The Brooklyn Bridge Fencing staff can instruct all levels of students interested in learning about Fencing— from beginner to experienced. The philosophy is simple: fencing should be both fun and competitive. Brooklyn Bridge Fencing instills self-confidence, sportsmanship, ambition, and analytical thinking through positive motivation. Whether a student aspires to compete in the Olympic Games, make a high school varsity squad, or just learn a new sport, they will have a great time developing fencing skills that challenge both body and mind while simultaneously preparing them for success at the level they wish to achieve. Additional Benefits of Fencing include: ‡ Builds Personal Responsibility & Character: Because fencing is an individual sport, fencers learn they are responsible for their success, learn how to manage failure, and discover they are mentally & physically stronger than they ever imagined. ‡ Makes College Applications Stand Out: Fencing has the best athlete to scholarship ratio of any sport, with a 30% chance of competing in NCAA Div. 1, if they fence in high school, compared to 0.5% for basketball, making any college application stand out. Please note this class takes place off campus at Brooklyn Bridge Fencing (68 Jay St #508, Brooklyn, NY 11201). Transportation to the Fencing studio will be provided by BASIS Independent, but parents are responsible for picking-up after lessons.
